I graduated from Portland State University with a BS in Communications in 1988. Drums have always been a part of my life, ever since I received my first drum kit at the age of 6. I studied at the Roger Allen Percussion Institute in Beaverton Oregon from Grade School to High School and played my way through College in various bands in and around the Portland area. After College I toured and recorded with several different musicians/bands and am currently living in NE Portland where I teach beginning and intermediate drum lessons as well as preformng in several musical groups in Portland.

Whether you want to play in a jazz combo, rock band (real or virtual) or classical music ensemble, I believe the basis of any sold drummer is meter, a feel for music and a rudimental snare drum background. Lessons start with the proper technique, essential rudiments and stick control. Then as a student progesses we work our way up from there focusing on timing, accuracy and interpreting the material properly.

Beginning/Intermediate drum instructions are $20.00 for a half hour lesson of $35.00 for an hour. Lessons are scheduled in month block increments and are taught out of my home studio located in inner NE Portland. Lessons are catered to the individual student and study materials are provided for a nominal fee. Or if you choose, you can receive a list of required books and obtain them on your own.
